Toledo sits on the Tagus River and has become one of the most visited sites outside of Madrid. Only 70km away from Madrid, it will take you approximately an hour to reach this old city. Toledo itself is over 2000 years old. It was the capital of the Visigoth Empire from the 400s to 700s. The history of this old town dated right back to 192BC and was previously under Roman occupation. Even today, you can still see some of the ancient roman ruins just outside walls of Toledo.
